Join us at Science Park 904 this October for the Complex Consciousness Symposium. Engage with profound questions about the mind and consciousness, exploring the intricate connections between mental and physical worlds.
We're excited to present a new edition for March featuring Naomi van de Pol and Vera Tesink. They will delve into their expertise in neurotechnology, exploring its application in predicting and preventing recidivism within the criminal justice system, along with an examination of its potential moral and legal implications.
Naomi van de Pol is a Ph.D. candidate at the Willem Pompe Institute for Criminal Law and Criminology and the Utrecht Centre for Accountability and Liability Law. Vera Tesink is a Ph.D. candidate in the Moral and Political Philosophy group at VU Amsterdam. De Pol will provide insights from the perspective of criminal law, fundamental and human rights, and neurotechnology, while Tesink will approach the topic from a legal and ethical standpoint.

The BètaBreak is organized by a team of students as a monthly discussion platform at the Amsterdam Science Park. Every month, we gather a panel of researchers, business people, politicians and authors to discuss a variety of topical subjects within the sciences. By doing this, we are offering an interdisciplinary insight into the different branches and discoveries of our faculty.
